Lee & Julia Cliffe

24th March 2016

How would you describe Julia Cliffe in one word?  I’d say ‘Vibrant’, and the dictionary definition of “Vigorous; energetic; exciting; stimulating; lively,” describes Julia perfectly.  Hairdresser Julia’s warm, friendly personality ensures she gets on well with everyone.  Julia’s husband Lee is a serving Royal Marine, and the couple have two lovely children, Emma and Jameson.

This was my first Military Wedding, and the venue was the picturesque Park Hall, at Charnock Richard in Lancashire, which is built around a 10th Century building.  The ceremony was taking place in this historic Banqueting Suite.  My day started with the bridal preparations, and my vintage camera lens captured the light beautifully, giving Julia a lovely radiant glow.  Whilst hair and make-up were being perfected, the marines were in the hotel’s restaurant enjoying breakfast. I photographed the fine details on the Marine’s uniforms, and then moved onto the historic Banqueting suite, where the wedding was taking place that afternoon.

My next duty was to photograph the marines together in uniform, and the wedding guests arriving. It was now time for the ceremony itself. The bridesmaids were each escorted down the aisle arm in arm with a marine. It was now Julia’s turn to take the spotlight. Julia looked delightfully elegant as her father chaperoned her down the aisle, and I’m sure several guests shed tears of joy as she glided gracefully to her awaiting groom. After a short yet beautiful service I photographed the drinks reception, before conducting the formal group pictures under the bandstand,  as well as taking a large group photo in the shape of a heart.

After the guests had enjoyed a sumptuous three course wedding breakfast, the speeches began. Julia’s father was on sparkling form with his recollections of Julia, whilst Lee’s brother’s best man speech was the longest  ever you’re likely to hear.  After a short break, the guests for the evening began to arrive.  The evening reception commenced with Julia and Lee’s first dance to Shania Twain’s “Still the One” , which was followed by a fantastic band ‘Soul Survivor.’ As you will see, the evening guests enjoyed my photo frame, and I captured some amazing shots. After the cake was cut, my duties were over, and I headed home, content with the great shots I was able to take.
