Simon & Paula's Happy Family & Friends Wedding

Simon & Paula are a lovely couple, with two adoreable boys, Charlie & Jacob. My wife has a nephew in blackpool with children also called Charlie & Jacob. What a coincidence. It was obvious upon meeting Paula and Simon that family and friends are important to them. The way they interacted with everyone is, in my opinion, a long forgotten art, the art of true friendship with the ability to actually make time for them. All too often in today's busy society, this is something most of us seem to have forgotten.

The Best Western Plus Samlesbury  Hotel is a short drive out of Preston, just 5 minutes drive from the M62. It is the perfect location for a weeding venue for discerning couples who want a modern hotel, combined with great service without the eggagerated pricing a lot of hotels ask for a lesser quality service. This is something Best Western are reknowned for. I've worked at three Best Western Hotels, two as a wedding photographer, and once many years ago when I used to run my own Mobile Disco. The service provided has always been excellent.

Paula is a primary school teacher, whilst Simon, (or 'Clarky' as he's known) is a mortage advisor. They make a lovely couple. During the ceremony, the love between the couple was evident. And this shone through to he guests, many of whom could be seen wiping a joyful tear from their eyes. Paula entered through the archway of pink and white balloons, preceeded by the bridesmaids and children. The bridesmaids were all dressed in dusky pink, which seemed to be the colour scheme of the day.

If you've seen my previous weddings, you'll know i'm a big fan of the "Vintage" look, and I edit a lot of my photo's in this style, using several different looks to replicate old film from the 40's, 50's, 60's & 70's. You will see several images edited this way in the slideshow below.

When it came to the "Not so formal" formal photographs after the service, Paula was a natural performer for the camera. as you will see. Even the two boys were able to keep still for their photographs, something other people commented on. The formals were taken at the rear of the hotel, on the grass, surrounded by trees. This worked really well. Then it was time for a few romantic shots of Paula and Clarky alone, before we went back in to shoot the "First Dance" photo's and a stunning shot of Paula gazing out of the Hotel window. This shot is fast becoming a must have shot for a modern wedding album. It's not easy to get right, but I feel this shot is absolutely stunning, the perfect end to any great wedding album.

All that was left for me to do, was to enjoy a relaxing drink in the lounge and then head back to Southport. Simon and Paula were delighted with my photographs. Paula wrote "Lovely photos from our amazing photographer Colin Anthony. Such an amazing day! Wow! I love them all, they’re beautiful. I can’t believe you took so many and they’re lovely. You really are underselling yourself. My sister has already been recommending you to friends at work who are planning a wedding thanks again so much!"  She also left thefollowing review on my Facebook page: "Colin is a wonderful photographer, he was very friendly and took amazing photos of our wedding day! We couldn’t believe the amount of photos he took on the day for the amount he charged and he stayed longer than we had paid him to, to ensure he got special shots of us in the reception room. We can’t thank you enough Colin and have recommended you to all of our friends, Paula & Simon"
